Dear friends as we are in the eve of Teacher’s Day, 5th of August is a special day for all of us to remember and pray for our teachers who taught us in various walks of life to be successful personalities. It is they who taught us life’s both sides of happiness and sadness and how to face the realities of life and overcome failures . Happiness is basically the awareness of that which is good. And the many smiling faces I see today, radiates the goodness in you. At birth, we are all designed for a specific purpose. The purpose of our life is worthiness. Every day we ought to renew our purpose, say to ourselves: this day let us make a sound beginning. Our improvement is in proportion to our purpose…
How do we go about this?
My teachers taught in my school days the importance of 3 P’s
- to PRAY,
- to PLAY
- to be PLEASANT.
I would strongly say that Prayer is acknowledging one’s own limitation and dependence, and experiencing the support and helping hand of God in our life. True prayer is not asking for God’s help in need and forgetting Him later. It is one that longs for the welfare of all, for the peaceful existence of everyone and for the coming together of all people into one human family. In a large metropolitan hospital there was a surgeon who insisted upon having a moment alone before entering the operating room. Because of his great skill, many of the younger doctors wondered if there might be a relation between his success and this unusual habit.
When one of them asked him this, he said, “Yes, there is a relationship, a very close one. Before each operation, I ask the great Surgeon to be with me, to guide my hands in their work. There have been times when I didn’t know what to do next, and then came a power to go on – power which I know comes from God. I would not think of performing an operation without asking God’s help.”
Life becomes a happy one when we enjoy good health. Exercising our bodies is essential to keep fit. Our mind can function well only in a sound body. A few hours from our regular routine should be set aside for games, exercise and time with nature. The important thing in life is not the miles you have traveled, but the stops you have made to listen to others and share in their joys and sorrows. Sometimes, people mistakenly think that finding meaning in life requires making a huge contribution. But often, the most meaningful and lasting contributions or acts of charity are those that occur in small ways when attention is given to a solitary individual. A young businessmen sat down and wrote a letter of thanks to a school teacher for having given him so much encouragement when he had been in her class thirty years before.
The following week he received an answer, written in a very shaky hand. The letter read: “My dear tom : I want you to know what your note meant to me. I am an old lady in my eighties, living alone in a small room, cooking my own meals, lonely, and seeming like the last leaf on the tree. You will be interested to know, Tom, that I taught school for fifty years and in all that time, yours is the first letter of appreciation I have ever received. It came on a cold, blue morning and cheered my lonely old heart as nothing had cheered me in many years.” The underlying principle of good manners is concern for other people – for their rights and their feelings. Have faith in yourself. Think always of the victorious person you are to be.
No life is perfect, nor is any person. Do the very best you can, with what you have, and disregard the rest. Start now! It need not take a lifetime. Even today you can begin to make the sun shine brighter for yourself – and for others. Dear friends we must thank God for the gift of each day. In His abundance God lavishing upon each of us with extraordinary, generous love to make us feel that he loves us. As we are in the eve of Teacher’s Day let us remember and pray for all our teachers who taught us in various walks of life in making us what we are today. May their blessings be upon us so that we may continue our successful march ahead to make the world a happy place.
