The first act of the day in a school activity would be assembly which gives energy and direction for the day. If a school is able to get all pupil into worship with one whole heart and soul which mean it paves way for the better day for everyone present in the school campus. This will instill in the young minds values, inspiration and oneness among all.

It is  important duty of the manager or correspondent to observe very strictly that assembly happens every day in the school campus. As said a family prays together lives together. Yes this act of the day will put things and everybody in order  bringing uniformity in teaching and learning. All the necessary information, instructions for the day could be given by the principal or by correspondent.

It is the duty of the founder of the school or the correspondent to see whether the assembly regularly conducted and how does it help the children to participate in it. It is very basic to prepare themes for every day’s assembly which will add more meaning for the pupil to ponder over.

It would be nice all the talks, songs, plays, speeches by class teacher, programme by children and finally speech by principal should be centered around theme of that particular day. So that everyone derives the day with same thought in mind.

If we look at the school curriculum  most schools now have a programme for assembly, The worship in the morning can be effective with a positive observation and  feedback by the higher authority. In order to make the day’s activities more meaningful let see the areas of observations…

  • Must observe the entire pupil how they generally listen and being attentive?
  • How do the other people respond to what other friends and classmates presenting on stage.
  • Can the teacher create the right sort of atmosphere for worship?
  • Is the talk pitched at a level which the pupil can understand but at the same time makes them think and widens their horizon of knowledge.
  • Does the assembly help to teach the children how to behave on formal occasion?
  • My question does the assembly is setting for an act of collective worship.
  • Do people have opportunity for prayer and reflection?
  • Does the mode of worship involve all the children?
  • At times visitors come for special assemblies are they briefed about what the children expect form them?
  • Is the guest properly introduced so that the school is prepared to receive the guest of the day.
  • How do the children receive the visitors?
  • Do they welcome them or just don’t even bother to wish them?
  • How the children come to assembly from the class and how do they disperse after the worship.
  • Does the class teacher accompany children while coming and going back to class after worship.
  • How the assembly is planned is there a committee to see and edit unwanted songs, words, dances or even to suggest where ever correction needed.
  • To observe whether all the members of the staff attended assembly regularly.
  • Do the PET master arranges the children before and makes the late comers to join the assembly in order.
  • Does watchman at the gate punctual in sending the children past and closes the gate before 2 minutes of worship.

These are the some of the important observations, be factual and as detailed as possible in what should be  recorded in order to make the morning assembly very effective. It is very important to the heads of the institution don’t rush to judgment and remember that what you record will form the basis of your feedback to the teacher to make the morning’s worship more effective for everyone to part take.
