Today , water scarcity is emerging has one of the big human cry all over the world. It is the immediate problem to which everyone must pay attention. We can see people walking miles to carry water even for their basic needs, but the other side we see often proper care is not taken to save water and also people should become responsible and to learn to use water and not to waste. The human worry is not for the wealth, not for power , nor for luxury, but be sure from now on another fifteen to twenty year we will have a big war on “water”. Depletion of water resources is an impending problem. today every child in school must be taught not only the subjects but most importantly how to save water, how to use water in a proper way .how wasting of water now will affect the society later.

I am sure the little ones first needs to be enlightened. If this is achieved we are doing the great thing to socialize great virtue that will make a huge difference in the society. School going children are the best ambassadors to reach the message that we want to convey to the larger section of people. In schools make every child aware that they need to take utmost care in learning not only the extra skills but also how to save water for their future.

Water is the sources of life , and water is life. from east to west, and north to south, water has defined life on the Indian subcontinent for thousand of years. Flood in some part and drought in some other parts, but overall, the combinations rainfall, surface and ground water resources have been sufficient for providing adequate water to the Indian population. This was past. As of now ground water resources are becoming more and more depleted, and surface water resources have become too polluted due to lots of industries send sending away waste water without even properly planned drainage system, so as a result we find heard to get goof water to drink.

We all know our nation is a country of agriculture. The contribution of farmers to the nation is great that everyone is able have food at least for one time a day. Well increasing demand for water for agriculture, industries and domestic uses has resulted in extraction and exploitation of ground water. It is fine sources. Over- extraction on the one hand and under-recharge due to sporadic and uneven rainfall on the other, result in the ground water table to increase there has to be continuous recharge. But deforestation and environment destruction accompanied with the climate change has created water scarcity. We have number of surface water sources in the form of river, streams, lakes, ponds, etc. But due to lack of maintenance these are becoming scarce now. The water sources becomes less due to all the lands are being converted for buildings, tree are cut, lakes are leveled, water storage ponds are turned into play grounds. All these are being destroyed, and we are forced to water scarcity.

Commoditization, commercialization and corporation of water is the norm of the day. Water, a free gift of nature, has become a commodity an economic good. Today, water is a business, and those who own this business are the corporate. In the rural area, poor farmers, the landless and people from the lower strata of society are most affected. Villagers are buying water on credit. Depletion on one side and pollution and contamination on the other mare the water resources an impending problem of India.

There is a need to recognize this impending problem, and collectively we have to chalk out strategies and a plan of action for sustainable water governance and management. for a better water distribution. India, a large country with many holy rivers, it is fast becoming a land of highly polluted and toxic rivers. we should be proud that government has taken steps to clean this rivers, we must put our hands together for the this good effort, if each citizen of the country feels this need of keeping the water pure and save every bit of water we can be sure that we are doing great service to the nation and for our future generation too. Water cannot be a commodity. It is a free gift of nature and water is a fundamental and basic need of the human society , thus we need to look for the future and need to plan for the better society that lives happily.

The country is facing an acute shortage of water every year. Water from rain must be collected. In south India, government of Tamilnadu encourages all the people to make up provisions for rain water harvesting . We come across all the new buildings are build with this idea of rain water harvesting. This is one of the best methods introduced in few years back. This method could be introduced all over India, where we find shortage of water. All the new buildings could be approved only with rain water harvesting system and people also must be encouraged to have rain water harvesting where ever possible and made to aware rains must be collected and used economically, water should not be wasted.

The importance of water should be told to the students at their young age itself, so that they become more responsible in using of water. let every school make it a point to conduct awareness programmes and encourage the students to discover various other methods to save water. I am sure the young minds with lots of creative power within them will find new methods of saving water and using water in a proper way. The school is a place where we finds future generation in making, let us bring up these young minds not only learning the regular subjects but also social responsibilities. Let them know every bit of water saved it will be utilized for the future. water is life, it is each ones responsibility to give our best to plant more trees and get more rains.
