Often parents don’t spend time with children to find out what is all about their dreams and their aspirations. Well as a parent it is your at most duty to is find time for your child. Try to find out
- What is happening in school every day, how did the day go?
- Was he/she happy about that day’s teaching and learning?
- What are the different functions held at school
- How did he/she spend the day at school?
- What is the home work for the day?
- How is the relationship progressing between child and teacher?
- What are the new things that they have learned in school?
- Any difficulties that they have faced with?
- When is the parent teacher meeting?
- How do the teachers help them in school in learning subjects?
- Are they comfortable with teacher and school?
- Any change in their behaviour?
- How does he/she responds to elders?
- Does he/she is happy to go to school?
- How is the friendship circle?
- How does he/she is with peer group?
- How does he/she manages the media influence?
- Any misuse of freedom?
- Does he/she freely shares with you all that they feel?
- How does he/she faces the difficult situations?
- Does he/she is interested in developing skills?
- How the child uses the holidays in an useful manner?
- Have they got a dream to become what they want?
- Is there burning desire to take studies seriously?
- He/she how do they take advice given you?
- Does he/she reaches school in time and comes back home in time?
Well dear parents we are in the midst of contradictions, in a competitive world of today our role as parent must be very prominent in the growth of a child. We are in the midst of influence of media, if the child is not properly guided there is great chance for a child to step in the wrong side of life.Though we don’t want our children to be tied to our pinafore stings, we want them to confide in us without any reservation and rise up to the expectations. The world today looks for the best of candidates for all its commitments. We need to reserve our hearts and minds to it, as we prepare our children for the future.
Nature the dream
As a parent we may have numerous dreams for our children and very much interested in the welfare and bright future that they need to have. As a result we keep on instilling in the mind of the child only our dreams we tend to forget their dislikes, inborn talents and great ability that they are blessed with. It is not something wrong to get know about our child’s dreams and aspirations. If it is fine we must be ready to change our dreams for their sake and encourage them to achieve it.
How do we encourage the child?
We do take pride in our early days victories triumphs. As a result we tend to compare ourselves. We often say to children as a parent during in my days I have done this, I have achieved that, and certainly we need to tell the children all that we were but never over -look the ability of the child. It is our duty to encourage them when they do things well in studies and later in life too. The thing is at times we are overjoyed in their achievement, when they win laurels, we do sometimes make disparaging, invasive and humiliating remarks which are detrimental to their growth as a child in our day today life we list many such comments. But as a parent we need to understand our vital role in making the best child for society and for nation at large. We need to bring up our child with positive energy with in and child should be a happy child and he/she should bring pride to parents and nations too.
Be an example
The basic values are learned by children from their parents, they observer a lot form their parents both good and bad. If the parents are good and they make happy family the child grows to be best with values. If the family is other way about the child will go through tough times in getting to put up with life in a positive way. The parents must show example to child at home so that the child grows with that positive energy within and must tell himself/herself “when I grow I should be like my mam and my dad” The inspirational parent makes an inspired child for the society.
Parents are the once who make the child and it is they are the once who give right direction to child’s life. As the proverb says a child is made not out of food they eat rather it is through best values that the parents make them grow. This nation can feel the growth in all spheres of its existence if it is blessed with citizens with values. So in order to make the nation shine the parents must make an effort to bring the child with tradition of it culture and love for the values then we can be sure we a nation blessed with children of values.
