A school campus with the hygienic atmosphere will lead to better teaching and learning process.
It is not only the school campus must be kept hygiene, it also includes personal, classroom, the surrounding, the wash basins, the restrooms, labs and all that are need to be taken care must be done.
Cleanliness is next to godliness that leads the tone of the school with high reputation. When a proper care is taken in the hygienic point of view then one can expect a better learning taking place, that creates an ambiance in the school campus for even visitors to visit.
1. Personal Cleaning for Students
In the process of learning in a classroom, the personal hygienic of every child be taken care of by the class teacher instructing everyday right from the lower class to higher sections of the school.
Brushing the teeth, having a regular bath, wearing clean and ironed proper uniform with all the necessary details, combing and plaiting the hair, cutting the nails and shining the shoes.
The children need to be reminded often and class teachers and PET masters should have regular cheek up. Every child must come to school attired in clean clothes and polished shoes.
2. Clean Classroom
Guide them to keep the desks, benches or chairs in order and in line. The teacher’s table, chalk, duster, and the waste bin should be in proper place.
The bags, water bottles, notebooks also find it’s placed and that too in order. The walls and the blackboards should be neat. As the teacher enters the class, he/she should note these points and see that the children put them into practice.
It is a good system followed in some schools to give as a shield or prize every to the best class which is neat and tidy.
3. The Surrounding
As a Kg student, everyone would be been familiar with the poem, “Bits of paper lying on the ground” pick them up…. The school campus often looks like a paper dump yard.
Throwing of paper and chalk or other waste materials in the class or outside should be avoided. By appointing the group of students to clean up the surrounding and play filed on regular basis along with the help of a teacher the school campus can be kept clean.
The children should cultivate a habit during every PET class before playing they should pick up all the papers and then play. If this method is followed then the whole campus will look neat and tidy.
4. The Wash Basins
This is the very important area to be kept always clean. Make the children throw the leftover after meals in special bins. Some wash the lunch or Tiffin boxes in the wash basin and dump the waste materials which block the flow of water.
This should the helpers of the school must pay attention to cleaning up the wash basin after every meal is a must.
5. The Rest Rooms
As we all know the sayings, if you want to know about the hygienic of a house just visit the kitchen you will know how clean is the house, in the same way, if you want to know about a school just visit the restroom you would know the cleanliness of the school.
The children from right form kg class onwards must be taught how to use the restrooms. Tell them to flash or pour water after and before use. Inform the school authorities if the restrooms are dirty or blocked.
Let the restrooms be kept neat and clean always. It is very sad often the grownups do not know how to use restrooms. A child must know the above said basic things and they must be taught it’s their duty too.
A school is a place where thousands and thousands of student study every day, every year we could see children newly joining and children leaving the school.
After completing the study well among this nature of lifestyle it is very important that children need to be taught the basic values and more especially how to maintain hygienic school campus where they spend a lot their time.
Let every child learn to know that school is a home away from home where they try to develop all their skills and values for personal growth.
Education is not only learning from a book, it includes all good values for life.
