A teacher needs to be organized his /her classes systematically with all the materials needed for teaching. Today it is often experienced by the students that content taught by the teacher is not understood because they don’t organize the days teaching materials.
The teaching can become very effective only when a teacher organizes the days teaching aids and preparing the lessons on smart boards and all the examples connected to the lesson to be prepared in advance so that the teacher becomes familiar with the content.
In today’s context, kids are much smarter than teachers because they have lots of access to the internet and get to know about the lesson and all its examples before the teacher teaches in the class.
Every teacher must make it a point to prepare for the class before you step into the classroom and should master the content before you start teaching.
The following would be guiding tools to be an organized teacher
- As a teacher the first important quality one must master is to be systematic in teaching and it is important to feel prepared as well as look prepared.
- You will be well appreciated and liked by students when you thoroughly prepare lecture notes that help you to be more explanatory
- Mini-lessons with sub-topics with examples to make the student understand the concept.
- Questions for discussion that would make the class more participatory and active.
- Class activities each day to actively involve students in teaching and learning.
- Teaching aids are the important tool a teacher must carry always and make sure If you expect your students to have all of their materials, then you should have yours, too.
- List out lessons/ units/ chapter and clearly state objectives and exactly what you expect on assignments — students need a picture sometimes.
- The students always want to know what is due and when to write assignments on the board daily and verbally remind them of due dates
- Pre-plan giving students all the details about the lesson and give students plenty of advance warning regarding assignment due dates, and give students a copy of the syllabus early. It is also a good idea to mail a copy of the syllabus home to students’ parents.
- Plan your system of grading criteria for letter grades on all tests and essays before giving them to the students.
- When grading students’ writing assignments, give them a cover sheet with a checklist. Check any mechanical or organizational mistakes the students make on the checklist. This way, the students know exactly why they received the grade they did.
- Instruct them in advance to save time and prevent confusion, before handing back student papers, tests, and homework, categorize them by seating arrangement or alphabetize them.
- Have a proper plan of names list In order to avoid the “who-needs-what-paper” dilemma because he or she was absent, keep a file. If a student is absent, but the student’s name on the top of the hand-out, and keep it for when the student returns.
- Instill in their habit of students take responsibility for their absent peers. They can collect hand-outs and assignments and put them in a folder designed for that purpose.
- It is very important to get to know all the rules in the school calendar so that you’ll know when students have days off and when other important activities are scheduled.
- All the files need to be maintained systematically. Keep a schedule of each class in a plastic cover. If you give a student permission to leave for the library, restroom, or somewhere else, use a dry erase marker to indicate on the plastic cover where the student has gone.
- Keep manuals in one place so that you know all the duties you need to carry on. So that it becomes easy to complete your work in time.
- Keep your desk and files organized, so that you can save your time and work smarter saving every minute.
- Keep two folders for student work for each period you teach, one for papers you have graded and one for papers you haven’t graded yet. This is especially helpful if your students are turning in a lot of papers each week.
- Be sure to have a record of lesson plans and follow them as per your lesson in teaching. A lesson plan is a tool that would help you to be every effective in teaching.
- A good way to organize the material you collect is to keep binders for each teaching unit and details written on the file which material it contains.
- Try to keep track of the books you share with people, Using note cards for each book, write the names of the students who check out your books, and keep a book file.
- Never go to class unprepared, always prepare for the class and be organized in your teaching profession that will bring you a positive notion about you among the students.
A teacher becomes really professional once he or she is able to carry out the duty in an organized way so that it helps both the teacher and a learner to be very effective in the learning process.
So be a teacher who is professional in teaching with lots of commitment because you are preparing a future citizen for the country in the four walls of a classroom.
Every action of yours is admired by the students and they learn a lot for life by looking at you and your actions. So be organized in your workplace and be smart in teaching kids how to be organized whatever profession in the later stage they would fill into.
It is the teacher who creates young minds with lots of positivism for life. A positive life brings success always and lets your teaching profession inspire the students so that in turn they inspire when they grow in life.
