The great freedom fighter and the Father of the nation Gandhiji had a great dream in making a new India and believed this could be possible only through education and it can bring all the changes that he had foreseen for the nation. It is like Gandhiji who had a great vision for the nation, there are many other leaders we come across in history who fought for the freedom of their country and dreamed education can bring numbers of changes for good in all the fields. Dear children Gandhiji’s vision of modern India was related to his ideas about education. To him, education was to be viewed as a means to nation building through an all round drawing out of the best in the child man, body and soul.
- Believed in literacy
He strongly believed literacy was not the end of education nor even the beginning of education. It should lead to the highest development of mind but this development could take place only through a scientific cultivation of the faculties of the mind and body. Education is the best means to teach the young generation. Love for the nation, sense of belonging to each other as people of one nation, Respect to the elders, treating ever one as brothers and sisters more than above respecting the culture of the nation.
- Dream into reality
There lies a great commitment and effort in bring the dream into reality, for such training of the mind and universal application of acquired knowledge, students should be given the opportunity of creating things on their own, however imperfect the products. The child finds joy in making of his own discovery and thus that will feed him with energy within.
- Modern education today
When we look at the modern education it more concentrates on memorizing and reproducing the text studied. Education today makes the children to carry on their heads mere information which they do not themselves acquire through personal observation.
- Education at higher level
Education at higher level seem go through a drastic shift, not like that of an olden days. The new way called modern leaning student ‘s at higher levels are not encouraged to apply their minds and understand simple or complex events and issues. Nor do they have an opportunity to use the library for acquiring information relevant to their environment. Early days there were hundreds, if not thousands of schools and colleges in India, without proper libraries, students pass their exams without reading even a singles book and use the market guides. But today things are changing I am happy about great positive change in learning even from primary schools to college level libraries are offered to students with best collections of books around the world these days. They have E- library, E- books, these days the young minds are blessed with technology where they can have all the information’s in a click of button. With all this modern learning if only they can use all this media and resources in meaningful way they can shine out to be best in their learning.
Well dear young pillars of the nation, as you all know the quote ‘As you thing so you become”. The thinking leads to action and action produces the results. Dear children if you want to make a change first you should become the change. Always keep in mind no goal is too distant, if you are ready to sweat and toil. No climb is too steep If your steps are determined, happiness is never beyond reach when there is a wiliness to be content, try setting a goal higher than that you can reach. The world is waiting for somebody Waiting and watching today, somebody to shield and say, do you thoughtfully question “Who? ‘Tis YOU. Dream big and achieve big, the sky is yours, reach as far as possible, create history so that future may remembers your achievements in the days to come…
