Among all the professions we often hear people say teaching profession is a noble of all. Yes it is true this profession deals with young generation for nation. Every leader and every manager, every film actor, actress and more are groomed in a four walls of a class room by a committed teacher and thus teaching is creating good citizens for nation.
As a teacher
One must understand the important role of teacher in teaching profession. As a teacher you will be a communicator, a disciplinarian, a conveyor of information, an evaluator, a class room manager, a constant counselor, a member of many teams and groups, a decision – maker, a role model, and a surrogate parent. Each of these rolls requires practice and skills that are often not taught in teacher training colleges.
Teacher is 24×7
The teaching job is not just for eight hours day it is rather 24 x7. As a teacher your day doesn’t necessarily end when the school bell rings. If you are conscientious, you will be involved in after school meetings, committees, assisting students, grading, homework, assignments, projects and meetings parents. A committed teacher is the one who walks extra miles to make difference in child’s life.
Sacrifice of your personal time
The very fact that you have chosen this profession it demands lots of your time for children that you care for. This job at times breath taking, you will come across situations that would make you feel you have chosen wrong path, but be ready for little effort from your side to make things easy. All these demand some sacrifice of your personal time. If you are committed to excellence as a teacher, it is a sacrifice you can live with. If not you will be uncomfortable at your best.
Work may remain invisible
As teacher you cannot see you’re the result immediately, the fruit of your work may remain invisible but be sure a day will come you would see wonderful work of yours as your students come back to thank you for all that you have done.
A teacher is the one who builds the nation
We do believe teaching creates all other professions. Most teachers have little control over school policy or curriculum, but most have a great deal of autonomy inside the classroom. A teacher is the one who builds the nation in a four walls of a class-room. Teacher is the one who motivates the child to go for his dreams and helps them when they need his help. He instills bigger dreams for the children at the early stage of life with lots of examples in a class. One looks back with appreciation to the brilliant teachers, but with gratitude to those who touched our human feelings. Human warmth is the vital element for the soul of a child.
The task of the excellent teacher
The task of the excellent teacher is to stimulate ordinary people to unusual effort. The tough problem is not in identifying winners. It is in making the winners to identify the drawbacks and making the ordinary as extra ordinary. At the early days of childhood they need to be given a proper orientation towards life. The wonderful work of inspirational teacher is to make the poor good and the good student superior. It is true when a student fails it is not he who fails rather it is teacher who fails.
As the days goes by we seldom come across teachers with efficiency and commitment to teaching profession. I believe the greatest reward for a teacher is to continue to live in the hearts of the students. Every teacher must carry a wonderful memory that a student of yours comes back years later and tells you about the way you taught him and you inspired them and there comes a great commitment as teacher you have done for the education and for the young.
